San Antonio Zen Center is offering an opportunity for San Antonians newly interested in Zen Practice. This class will be led by Resident Priest John Grimes and will meet four Thursday evenings from 6:45 pm to 8:00 pm and will provide an Introduction to Zen Practice. Each class will include a brief period of meditation, beginning with 10 minutes and working up to 30 minutes at the end of the series. The course is intended to provide a basis of practice and to encourage meditation. The series will include instructions on how to meditate (posture, concentration, etc.), instruction on zen forms, presentations on basic Zen philosophy and a discussion of how to practice Zen in daily life. Cost is $15 per class – $10 for members. In order to encourage continuity and commitment, if paid in full in advance the fee for all 4 weeks is $50. Financial assistance is available. No one is turned away for lack of funds. Please register by phone at 257-8383 or at Zen Center. The dates are Sept 9, 16, 23, & 30, 2010.
Saturday, September 25th, Father Robert Kennedy Roshi, will be at SAZC to lead a one day sitting. The sitting will begin at 9:00am and conclude at 3:30pm. Lunch is included. The fee for the sitting is $40 members/$50 others. Please sign up at ZC or at the “Contact Us” form on this site or at 210-826-1977. There is limited seating available. Kennedy Roshi will also offer a public lecture at UIW Friday evening, Sept. 24th at 7:00pm. A $10 donation is requested.
